Biomimicry or nature inspired design is a new concept that is being adopted by innovators across the globe. We found a biomimetic organisation in Bangalore and took no time to start working with them to design your wastewater treatment plant.
Biomimicry in action
The ECOSTP is a sewage (wastewater) treatment plant (STP) designed to mimic a cow’s digestive tract. The sewage travels through the tract that contains the same bacteria found inside a cow’s stomach. Once the sewage is digested by the bacteria, the treated water finds its way to the end of the tract.
With the use of plant and gravel filter for tertiary treatment, the water can be reused for flushing in the toilet, carwash, gardening etc. The entire system is built underground and needs no maintenance. With the possible of de-sludging once in two years.
Key Numbers of ECOSTP
This Unique technology does not use chemicals or energy to treat the water, but rather mimics the processes of the nature, by using a combination of microorganisms, plants and gravel to clean sewage water and return clean water back to mother earth completing the 'Cradle to Cradle' sustainable lifecycle.
Compared to conventional STPs which use energy hogging motors, exhaust fans, pumps, blowers etc. Our patent pending ECOSTP technology produces energy. In fact this is a paradigm shift in waterwaste treatment - from consuming energy to producing energy. A 200 KLD sewage treatment plant can generate 50KL/day Biogas, energy equivalent of 25 litres of Diesel.
Due to the nature of the vigorous treatment, conventional STPs generate high quantity of pathogen loaded sludge, which needs to be removed frequently. ECOSTP technology ensures much lesser sludge creation - only 5% as compared to sludge creation in traditional STPs. Sludge needs to be removed only once in 2 years.

How do we do it?
Treated grey water is passed through a state-of-the-art Tertiary Water Treatment Plant making it pure enough to drink. This saves 4.3 million litres of fresh water annually

Rainwater harvesting maximizes utilization of rainwater through filtering and bulk storage

All common areas are lit by LED lights. To further optimise power consumption they are controlled by a network of timers and sensors.LED lights in common areas saves 13,000 kWhs annually
Energy efficient gearless elevators with group control to optimize usage. Gearless Elevators save 12,000 kWhs of electricity
Dedicated electric vehicle charging bays powered by onsite clean green renewable energy.
Power backup via diesel generators with automatic load controller to optimise fuel consumption. This saves 5900 liters of diesel annually due to the load balancer
